Gary M. Parsons is Chairman of the Board of XM Satellite Radio Holdings
Inc. He brings over 25 years of entrepreneurial and telecommunications
experience to XM Satellite Radio. Mr. Parsons was elected Chairman of
the Board in March 1998, previously serving as the company's Chief
Executive Officer and President. Prior to XM, Mr. Parsons served as
Executive Vice President at MCI Communications. During his six-year
tenure with MCI, he also served as its Senior Vice President of
Engineering, President of MCI's Southern Division, and as Chief
Executive Officer of MCImetro, Inc., the subsidiary responsible for
MCI's entry into local telephone service. Prior to MCI, Mr. Parsons was
a Founder and Executive Vice President of Telecom*USA. Telecom*USA was a
start-up long distance venture in 1984, and Mr. Parsons helped grow the
company into the nation's fourth largest long distance company.
Telecom*USA was acquired by MCI for $1.4 billion in August 1990. Mr.
Parsons holds an MBA from the University of South Carolina and a BS in
Electrical and Computer Engineering from Clemson University. Profile
