FRED L. PLAUTZ serves as Thrivent Financial for Lutherans' lead
portfolio manager for equity assets in the large-cap core investment
style. In this role, he is the senior portfolio manager for The AAL
Capital Growth Fund, The AAL Capital Growth Portfolio and the LB Fund.
Mr. Plautz is also co-manager of The AAL Balanced Fund. He graduated
from Nicolet High School in Glendale, Wisconsin, in 1973 and earned a
bachelor's degree in Finance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in
1979. He also earned an MBA degree in Finance from the University of
Wisconsin-Madison in 1981. Mr. Plautz joined Aid Association for
Lutherans (AAL) in 1995 as a portfolio manager. AAL and Lutheran
Brotherhood merged on January 1, 2002. The merged organization adopted
the name Thrivent Financial for Lutherans on July 1, 2002. Prior to
joining Thrivent Investment Management, Inc., Mr. Plautz co-managed
several large equity portfolios for Federated Investors. He previously
was with Banc One Asset Management Corp. as a manager of index and
