W. Mark Motley served a two-year mission in Northeastern Brazil in 1978 and 1979 as a volunteer for his church and graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science degree cum laude in Economics. From 1983 through 1989, he served as Vice President and Trust Investment Officer in the trust department of First Security Bank, the largest bank in Central Kentucky. There he served as a member of the Trust Investment Committee, as a portfolio manager for trust accounts valued in total at over $250 million, and as the director of investment research. While at the bank he rose to the number two investment person in the $1.2 billion trust department. In 1987, while working full time at the bank, he completed an MBA degree with emphasis on Finance from the Graduate School of the University of Kentucky, and he obtained the Chartered Financial Analyst designation (CFA) in 1988. From 1989 until early January of 1996, he served at Bartlett & Co. during a period in which that firm was the largest independent investment advisory firm in Cincinnati. At Bartlett, he served as a portfolio manager in the Private Client Group, as chairman of the firm's Investment Policy Committee, as chairman of the investment committee of the Private Client Group, and as one of three members of the Equity Investment Group which selected the firm's Recommended List of stocks. In January of 1996 he founded Caledonian Asset Management Corp., where he served as president and in less than a year gathered over $24 million in assets under management. In late 1996, he co-founded Foster & Motley, Inc., an independent registered investment advisory firm providing financial advisory and investment management services primarily to individuals and families. He has been quoted in The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg Wealth Manager, The Wall Street Transcript, Business Courier and the Cincinnati Enquirer, and published in the NAPFA Advisor. He has also been a guest financial commentator on WCPO (TV channel 9 in Cincinnati) and WVXU radio. TWST: Why don't you start with an overview of Foster & Motley and your investment philosophy?
Mr. Motley: We're a smaller wealth management firm based in Cincinnati, Ohio. We manage a little over
