EDWARD LANPHIER founded Sangamo BioSciences, Inc., in 1995, and has served as
President, CEO and a member of the Board of Directors since its inception. He
has over 25 years' experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry.
From 1992 to 1997, he was associated with Somatix Therapy Corporation, a gene
therapy company, in positions including Executive Vice President, Commercial
Development and CFO. Prior to Somatix, Mr. Lanphier was President and CEO of
BioGrowth, Inc. From 1986 to 1987, he was Vice President of Corporate
Development at Biotherapeutics, Inc., a position that he had previously held at
Synergen, Inc. With Eli Lilly and Company, he was part of the strategic business
planning-biotechnology group. Mr. Lanphier serves on the Board of Directors of
