DENIS TURCOTTE – ALGOMA STEEL INC (AGA:TSX)

DENIS TURCOTTE began his term as President and Chief Executive Officer of Algoma Steel Inc. in September 2002. He came to Algoma from Tembec Inc. where he served over 11 years in a variety of positions, most recently as President of the Paper Group and Executive Vice President of Corporate Development and Strategy from 1999 to 2002. Prior to his time at Tembec, Mr. Turcotte lead a group of employees that partnered with Tembec to purchase the Spruce Falls Paper Company from Kimberly Clark and The New York Times in 1991. Previously he was with Kimberly Clark. A Professional Engineer by trade, Mr. Turcotte also holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Western Ontario. He was a winner of the 'Top 40 Under 40 Award' in 1999, recognizing him as one of 40 people under 40 years of age chosen from across Canada based on accomplishments indicating vision, leadership, innovation and achievement. He also received the Lakehead University Alumni Honor Award in 2003 in recognition of outstanding achievements in business. Profile
