DR. DAVID S. YOUNG is President and CSO of Arius Research Inc. He
oversees general corporate strategy and directs the company's scientific
program. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree in 1990 and Master of
Science degree through the Surgical Scientist Program in 1996, both from
the University of Toronto. He did his surgical training at the
University of Toronto between 1991 and 1997, including his surgical
internship at the Toronto General Hospital, residency in General Surgery
at Mount Sinai Hospital, and within the division of Cardiovascular
Surgery at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto. While at the University of
Toronto he received 15 awards and/or scholarships. He is a diplomate of
the Medical Council of Canada and of the National Board of Medical
Examiners of the United States of America and holds an Independent
Practice Certificate from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of
Ontario. He is an author of more than 40 papers, abstracts and patents.
From 1997 to 2001, he was a clinical associate in the Division of
Cardiovascular Surgery at Michael's Hospital in Toronto. He began his
research career studying the role of the immune system in xenograft
rejection in cardiac transplantation and has moved forward investigating
its role in cancer. Prior to founding ARIUS in 1999, he was a co-founder
of Apogen Inc., a transplantation company, Vertis BioSciences Inc., a
biotechnology company, and Diversified Medical Innovations, Inc., a
