CHRIS D. WHEELER is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Gables
Residential Trust. Previously, Mr. Wheeler spent 17 years with various
Trammell Crow entities. He was Group Managing Partner responsible for
all TCR multifamily residential development and management in south
Florida, the South Central United States and the Mid-Atlantic and
Northeast United States. Since March 1988, Mr. Wheeler has supervised
the development and acquisition of approximately 15,000 apartment homes.
Prior to 1987, he was the Houston Industrial Division partner with
Trammell Crow Company, responsible for the management and development
efforts related to a 22-million-square-foot industrial portfolio. From
1987 to 1991, he served as the Area Partner with TCC's South Florida
Commercial Operations, overseeing the development and management of more
than three million square feet of office, retail and industrial space.
Mr. Wheeler graduated with honors in 1978 from the California Institute
of Technology with a major in Applied Physics. He received his MBA from
Harvard Graduate School of Business in 1980. He currently serves as
Chairman of the Architectural Review Board in the Town of Gulf Stream,
Florida and is a Director of the Delray Beach Public Library Board. In
addition to being a member of the Urban Land Institute, he also serves
as a Director on the National Multi Housing Council. Profile
