FRED T. GRANT, JR. joined Ryan's Family Steak Houses, Inc. in January
1990 as Director of Finance and was promoted to Vice President - Finance
in April 1990. In October 2000, he was named Senior Vice President '
Finance. Prior to joining Ryan's, he spent nine years working at Big
Five public accounting firms, leaving KPMG Peat Marwick as a Senior
Audit Manager to join Ryan's. Mr. Grant worked on the Ryan's audit in
addition to a variety of healthcare and US and international
manufacturing clients while at KPMG Peat Marwick. Other work experience
includes three years with Barnett Banks, Inc. in Florida and one year
with a textile manufacturer in the Greenville, SC, area. He is a CPA and
has a BA in Finance from Furman University. Profile
CHARLES D. WAY has served as Chairman, President and Chief Executive
Officer of Ryan's Family Steak Houses, Inc. since November 1992. A
Certified Public Accountant, Mr. Way joined the company in June 1979 as
Controller and served as Chief Financial Officer until his appointment
in June 1988 to President. In October of 1989 he was also named Chief
Executive Officer. Mr. Way graduated from Clemson University in 1975
with a BS in Accounting. He is a member of the American Institute of
Certified Public Accountants and the South Carolina Association of CPAs.
He currently serves on the Board of Directors of World Acceptance
Corporation and the Advancement Board of the College of Commerce and
