Richard J. Campo is Chairman of the board and Chief Executive Officer of Camden Property Trust, multifamily real estate investment trust. He has served in this capacity since May 1993. Mr. Campo is a member of the executive committee and board of directors for the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts and was Chairman of the National Multi Housing Council from 2008 to 2009. He began his real estate career after graduating from Oregon State University in 1976. After working for a private Houston real estate company, he cofounded Camden's predecessor companies in 1982. Mr. Campo is involved in numerous local charitable organizations and recently was honored for his support of the Irvin Kaplan Children's Scholarship Fund. He serves on the board of directors of several organizations, including The Center for Houston's Future, Central Houston, Inc., Buffalo Bayou Partnership and the Greater Houston Community Foundation. He also is Chairman of the Houston Convention Center Hotel Corporation and the former Finance Committee Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer for the Harris County - Houston Sports Authority. Mr. Campo is a frequent speaker on real estate and development-related topics for industry-related and nonindustry conferences and associations, and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
