C. Cammack Morton – Konover Property Trust Inc (kpt)

A highly respected industry leader, C. CAMMACK MORTON joined the company as chief operating officer in 1996 and was elected Chief Executive Officer, effective January of 1997. With more than 18 years of experience in the shopping center industry, Mr. Morton is leading Konover Property Trust's overall growth strategies. Under his direction, the company has been reorganized into a more structured shopping center management company with defined departments which include finance/accounting, development, leasing, investor relations, management, marketing, and legal. Since joining Konover Property Trust, Mr. Morton has focused on three primary tasks: bringing on board individuals with shopping center expertise, stabilizing the properties, and strategizing a diversification plan for the company to position it for growth. As part of the diversification strategy, his efforts have resulted in the purchase of and the placing under contract of approximately $180 million of shopping center assets, which included the $100 million acquisition of Konover & Associates, South. He was also instrumental in obtaining a $200 million strategic investment from an affiliate of Lazard Freres. Mr. Morton oversees the Konover Property Trust's portfolio of over 9.9 million square feet. The growing portfolio encompasses over 7o shopping centers which are either owned, operated, under contract, or under development by the company. Previously, he was managing director of Rothschild, Realty, Inc. While at Rothschild, he founded Charter Oak Partners, a wholly owned subsidiary of Rothschild engaged in the development and management of shopping centers. As chairman, president, and chief executive officer, he developed Charter Oak partners to be one of the largest privately held developer/manager of outlet properties. Previously, Mr. Morton was president of retail development for Western Development Corp., predecessor to The Mills Corp., where he headed the team that created Potomac Mills outside Washington, DC. He was senior vice president at Federal Realty Investment Trust as part of the team that created its development/manager arm. He was also formerly vice president, development at Kravco. Mr. Morton is a member of the Retail Advisory Board for Value Retail News, a unit of the International Council of Shopping Centers and the Retail Advisory Board for 'Shopping Center World' a major shopping center industry publication. He earned a B.A. degree from Hampden-Sydney College, an M.S.A. degree with honors from the University of Florida, and an M.B.A. degree with honors from East Carolina University. Profile
