ALLEN MORGAN, JR. was born July 18, 1942, in Memphis, Tennessee. He was
educated at St. Andrew's School in Middletown, Delaware, and received
his B.A. degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In
1966, he joined Courts & Company, a regional investment firm, where he
was an Investment Broker and Branch Office Manager. In 1969, Mr. Morgan
founded Morgan Keegan & Company, a regional New York Stock Exchange
member firm. The firm grew from one office and $500,000 in capital to
its current size of 46 offices in 13 states and a capital base of over
$250 million. He is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Morgan
Keegan, Inc. and President of the Morgan Keegan Southern Capital Fund,
an open-end mutual fund investing primarily in southeastern companies.
Mr. Morgan has been quite involved in the investment industry, and in
1982 he was chosen Chairman of the Southern District of the Securities
Industry Association. He is a board member of the Securities Industry
Association, a former board member of the New York Stock Exchange
Regional Firms Advisory Committee and he has served on the NASD District
5 Business Conduct Committee. He is a past member of the Young
President's Organization. Additionally, Mr. Morgan has served on the
boards of many civic and cultural organizations. Among these are the
Public Building Authority of Memphis and Shelby County, the State of
Tennessee Building Finance Committee, the City of Memphis Mud Island
Park Board, Methodist Hospitals, the Memphis Community Foundation and
Trezevant Manor and Allen Morgan Health Center. He is past President of
the Arts Appreciation Foundation, the Cotton Carnival, the Liberty Bowl,
the Memphis Chamber of Commerce and the Memphis Downtown Leadership
Council. He serves on the Board of Catherine's Stores and is an advisory
board member of two venture capital funds, Private Investment Consortium
and SSM Venture Fund. Mr. Morgan also serves as Trustee for St. Andrew's
School, Dixon Gallery & Gardens, the Memphis Opera Memphis Foundation
and Elmwood Cemetery. In 1994, Mr. Morgan was named Entrepreneur of the
Year by the Society of Entrepreneurs in Memphis. In 1995, 'Financial
World' magazine honored him as one of three outstanding CEOs in the
