Thomas Carroll joined the research team at Stifel, Nicolaus & Co., Inc., in connection with the company’s acquisition of Legg Mason’s capital markets group in December 2005. He joined Legg Mason’s capital market business as a health care services Analyst in 2000. He is a frequent contributor to print media and television, such as CNBC, Bloomberg TV and Radio, and has been recognized for investment choice, earnings analysis and policy research by Financial Times/StarMine in 2005 with a number three ranking in stock picking, and in 2008, with a number two ranking in earnings estimates. Mr. Carroll also has earned a number four ranking in 2005 and a number three ranking in 2012 by The Wall Street Journal‘s Best on the Street survey. He spent the previous decade in the industry working with a wide variety of provider organizations, physician practice management groups and managed care organizations. He completed numerous consulting engagements in his role as a Senior Consultant with KPMG and Alexander & Alexander Consulting Group. Mr. Carroll’s consulting clients included Aetna, AmeriChoice, Johns Hopkins Health Care, Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic and MedStar Health System. In addition to consulting, he developed significant expertise in managed care financial analysis and pricing of commercial and Medicare health benefit products during his employment with Doctor’s Health, Inc., a full-risk managed care business model primarily serving a Medicare population in the mid-Atlantic market. Mr. Carroll has a B.S., magna cum laude, in financial management from Towson University and a master’s in health science degree in health care finance and management from The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Hygiene and Public Health.
