Steven B. Engle

STEVEN B. ENGLE, Chairman and CEO, joined La Jolla Pharmaceutical
Company in 1993 and became CEO in 1995. Prior to that, he served as Vice
President of Marketing and in other senior management roles at Cygnus,
Inc. Mr. Engle held senior marketing and general manager positions with
Micro Power Systems, a manufacturer of medical and other devices. He was
a consultant to the pharmaceutical industry with Strategic Decisions
Group and SRI International. He holds a BSEE and MSEE degrees with a
focus in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Texas.
