Stephen A. Van Dyck

STEPHEN A. VAN DYCK is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Maritrans
Inc. He was also Chief Operating Officer from 1975-1981. Maritrans is
one of the nation’s largest independent marine transporters of
petroleum. Employing $250 million in assets and 425 employees, Maritrans
distributes oil from Maine to Texas, using 11 oceangoing super barges
that carry up to 54,000 tons and four tankers that carry up to 40,000
tons. Mr. Van Dyck is Chairman of the Board, Chairman of the Executive
Committee and Director of West England Mutual Insurance Co., Luxembourg.
Prior to joining Maritrans he was Vice President and Group Sr. Vice
President, Oil Services at Sonat Inc., from 1981-1987; Chairman of the
Board, Sonat Offshore Drilling from 1986-1987; Vice President, Corporate
Finance, Butcher and Singer from 1973-1974; and General Manager, Micro-
Swiss Division, Kulicke & Soffa Industries from 1970-1973. Mr. Van Dyck
has a BS degree in Business Administration from Wilkes College, Wilkes-
Barre, Pennsylvania and he is a graduate of the Advanced Management
Program at Harvard University School of Business Administration and of
U.S. Naval Officer Candidate School, Newport, Rhode Island.
