Raymond Lafontaine

RAYMOND LAFONTAINE is President and founder of LGS Group, Inc. Founded
in Montreal in 1979, LGS is now one of Canada’s leading information
technology firms, specializing in electronic commerce, management and
systems integration. With annual sales of $230 million, LGS has close to
2,200 professionals on staff and serves the Canadian marketplace from
offices located in Quebec City, Jonuiere, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto,
London, Kitchener-Waterloo, Winnipeg, Regina, Saskatoon, Edmonton,
Calgary, Vancouver and Victoria. LGS also covers Europe from its offices
located in Paris and Belfort in France, Lausanne in Switzerland and
Verona in Italy. LGS recently opened an office in the United States, in
Washington. The company is active in most areas of the private and
public sectors. Mr. Lafontaine graduated from the cole Polytechnique de
Montreal where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Science and
Physics Engineering (1964). He earned a Master’s degree in Science from
London University (1966) and also obtained a degree in Applied Economy
from I’Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales de Montreal (1968). He is
also a Fellow of the Order of Chartered Administrators of Quebec
(Adm.A.) Before founding LGS, Mr. Lafontaine worked for 13 years at IBM
Canada where he held several senior positions in management and
marketing in various cities across Canada. Mr. Lafontaine is currently a
member of the Board of Directors of Optimum General Inc. and Speedware
Inc. He is President of the Board of Directors of the Foundation des
grands brules du Quebec, a non-profit organization. He serves on the
Board of Governors of the Conseil du patronat du Quebec. He is a member
of the Order of Engineers of Quebec, the Montreal Chamber of Commerce
and a member of the Board of Directors of the Canadian Chamber of
Commerce. Mr. Lafontaine is a past President of the Canadian Information
Processing Society, Montreal Chapter.
