Merrill A. Miller

Merrill A. Miller Jr. is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of National Oilwell Varco. Mr. Miller joined National Oilwell in February 1996 and held several executive positions before being elected President and Chief Executive Officer in 2001, and Chairman of the board in 2002. Mr. Miller’s work history includes broad experience in the drilling contractor industry including 15 years at Helmerich & Payne where he held various positions culminating in the role of Vice President U.S. Operations. Mr. Miller graduated from the U.S. Military Academy, West Point. Mr. Miller also received his MBA from Harvard Business School. Mr. Miller serves on the Board of Directors for Chesapeake Energy Corporation, Offshore Energy Center, Petroleum Equipment Suppliers Association and Spindletop International.
