John Glynn is Founder and Managing Director of Glynn Capital Management. He has been actively investing since 1970, and has been a venture backer of companies including Alza, Cypress Semiconductor, eHealthInsurance, Electronic Arts, Intel, Intergraph, Neurex, Peetís Coffee & Tea, The Learning Company, Silicon Graphics, Sepracor, Sun Microsystems and Vertex Pharmaceuticals. Mr. Glynn has also served as a Director of many small private companies, and served as an Adviser to New Enterprise Associates. He was a Founder and Director of Sterling Payot, a merchant banking firm in San Francisco, which has launched several new companies and played a key role in restructuring several large companies. Since the late 1980s, Mr. Glynn has devoted some of his time to teaching courses in entrepreneurship at the Stanford Graduate School of Business, Cambridge University and the Darden Graduate Business School at the University of Virginia, where he serves as the Thomas C. MacAvoy Professor of Business Administration. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of Notre Dame, is a Trustee of the University Of Virginia School Of Law, and a former member of the Advisory Board of the Judge Business School at Cambridge University. Mr. Glynn earned a bachelorís degree from the University of Notre Dame, a J.D. degree from the University of Virginia and an MBA from the Graduate School of Business of Stanford University.
