Gil Shwed

GIL SHWED is Chairman, CEO, President and Co-founder of Check Point
Software Technologies Ltd. He had led the company to dominate the
network security and VPN markets and is leading Check Point Software as
the key enabler for the new world of secure e-business. Mr. Shwed
founded Check Point Software in 1993 with the vision of creating the
industry’s most secure, powerful and easy-to-use network security
solution. In 1994, his vision was realized with the first release of
Check Point FireWall-1′, which has now become the standard in
enterprise-wide network security. He invented and holds the industry
patent for Stateful Inspection technology. Prior to Check Point
Software, Mr. Shwed participated and managed development projects at
Optrotech, the Israeli Defense Forces, National Semiconductor and Hebrew
University in Jerusalem. He has also been a consultant for the
development and deployment of open systems to corporations in both the
United States and Israel. Mr. Shwed was also co-Founder and Head of
Research and Development for an American-Israeli software company in the
field of materials handling. He is on the Board of Directors for BackWeb
Technologies.
