Gary L. Yancey

GARY L. YANCEY has been President, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman
of Applied Signal Technology, Inc., since co-founding the company in
1984. Applied Signal Technology began with the charter of performing
studies and building deliverable hardware for telecommunications-
oriented customers in the US government. Prior to co-founding Applied
Signal Technology, Mr. Yancey was employed at ARGOSystems, Inc., a
manufacturer of electronic reconnaissance systems. Starting as a senior
member of the technical staff at ARGOSystems, Mr. Yancey assumed the
positions of Program Manager, Department Manager, and finally Director
of the Strategic Systems Division, in 1982. From 1967 to 1974, he was
employed at GTE Sylvania, Inc., a defense electronics company. In 1991,
Mr. Yancey received the Entrepreneur of the Year award from co-sponsors
Ernst & Young, Merrill Lynch, and Inc. magazine. Also in 1991, Inc.
magazine selected Applied Signal Technology to its list of 500 high-
growth private companies. In 1998, Mr. Yancey was inducted into Oregon
State University’s Academy of Distinguished Engineers. In 1999,
Mr.Yancey received the Award of Distinction from San Jose State
University in recognition of outstanding professional achievement. Mr.
Yancey has an MSEE degree from San Jose State University and a BSEE
degree from Oregon State University.
