Ernest L. Godshalk

ERNEST L. GODSHALK has served as President and Chief Operating Officer
of Varian Semiconductor Equipment Associates, Inc., since February 2001
and as Chief Financial Officer from 1999 to 2001. Mr. Godshalk was the
Vice President of Finance in 1998 for Varian Associates’ semiconductor
equipment business before it spun out as a separate entity to form
Varian Semiconductor Equipment Associates, Inc., in 1999. Prior to
joining Varian Associates, he was Managing Director of an investment
company, Elgin Management Group, a position he held from 1993 to 1996
and again in 1998. Mr. Godshalk also was Chief Financial Officer and
Secretary for the Internet company Prodigy, Inc., from 1996 to 1998. Mr.
Godshalk has a Bachelor’s degree from Yale University and an MBA degree
from Harvard Business School.
