David V. Smith

DAVID V. SMITH is the Vice President, Finance and Principal Accounting
Officer for Chiron Corporation, responsible for finance on a worldwide
basis. Mr. Smith joined Chiron Corporation as its Vice President,
Controller in February 1999. Prior to joining Chiron, Mr. Smith served
as the Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer of Anergen,
Inc. from 1997 until 1999. From 1988 to 1997, Mr. Smith held various
financial management positions with Genentech, Inc. in both the United
States and Europe, most recently as Director of Accounting. Mr. Smith
has also held financial management positions with International Business
Machines and Syntex Corporation. Mr. Smith holds a BA degree from
Willamette University and an MBA degree from Golden Gate University. He
is a member of Financial Executives International and serves on FEI’s
Committee on Corporate Reporting.
