Bill Houlihan

BILL HOULIHAN is Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of
Metris Companies Inc. He has more than 27 years of diversified financial
services and management experience and was hired as Executive Vice
President and Chief Financial Officer of Metris in August 2004. He is
responsible for the company’s finance and treasury operations. Mr.
Houlihan came to Metris from JPMorgan Chase, where he was Managing
Director in the financial institutions group. Prior to joining JPMorgan
Chase in November 2003, Mr. Houlihan spent three years as Executive Vice
President and CFO at Hudson United Bancorp in Mahwah, New Jersey, where
he was responsible for all finance and treasury areas of the bank. Prior
to that, he served as Managing Director of the investment banking firm
of Keefe, Bruyette & Woods. He also has held investment banking
positions at Bear, Stearns & Co. and Goldman Sachs, where he interfaced
with a variety of clients in the financial services areas. A Certified
Public Accountant, Mr. Houlihan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
from Manhattan College and an MBA in Finance from the New York
University Graduate School of Business.
