JOHN THURSTON BEATY, JR. joined forces with Walter Haynes in 1990 after
20 years as an officer (President for the last six years) of Davidge &
Company, a Washington, DC investment counsel firm. At Beaty Haynes &
Patterson, he counsels clients and searches for investment opportunities
across a broad spectrum including traditional stocks and bonds, emerging
growth situations, foreign securities, venture capital and real estate.
Mr. Beaty is a graduate of the Choate School, Princeton University
(Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa) and Harvard Business School (with
distinction). He is a Chartered Investment Counselor. Mr. Beaty is an
active participant in community affairs and has served for many years on
a committee of volunteers who decide how to spend the funds raised each
year by the United Way. He is also interested in historic preservation
and serves on the board of the Montgomery County Historical Society and
the Decatur House Council of the National Trust for Historic
Preservation. Mr. Beaty is a member of the Advisory Board of the Venture
Capital Fund of New England and has taught as an Adjunct Professor at
