PETER F. SPANO is a General Partner and a Founder of Mercator Asset
Management, LP. He also serves as a Portfolio Manager and a Research
Analyst in addition to his role as the firm's Chief Administrative
Officer. Mr. Spano began his career in 1968, spending 12 years as an
officer, portfolio manager and analyst with The Chase Manhattan Bank, NA
and then Flagship National Bank of Miami (now Sun Trust). For several
years following, he was Director of Investments for American Birthright
Trust Management, Inc., an investment advisor to mutual funds, as well
as a Vice President and Portfolio Manager of one of the funds. Prior to
Mercator, Mr. Spano served as a Vice President and Chairman of the
Portfolio Management Committee at Templeton Investment Counsel, Inc. He
earned his MBA from Baruch College (City University of New York) and his
BBA from St. John's University. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst. Mr.
Spano is also a member of the International Society of Financial
Analysts, the South Florida Financial Analysts Society and the
Association of Investment Management and Research. Profile
