GRAHAM WINDLE is Strategic Development Director of the Whitbread Hotel
Company. He joined Whitbread Plc in 1972 straight from Bradford
University. He qualified as an Accountant with CIMA in 1975. After
spending a number of years at corporate headquarters and other divisions
of Whitbread in various financial positions, he joined Threshers as
Financial Director in 1989. He joined the Whitbread Hotel Company in
1991 as Finance Director and became Strategic Development Director in
1996. As Strategic Development Director, he is responsible for business
planning, overseeing all major new acquisitions and developments for
both Marriott Hotels and Travel Inn and all joint ventures. The
Whitbread Hotel Company operates Marriott Hotels, Courtyard by Marriott,
Travel Inn, The Brewery and since the acquisition of Swallow hotels, has
converted the majority of these hotels to the Marriott brand. Whitbread
is the second largest hotel group in the UK, with 367 properties either
open or under development and 27,768 rooms. Mr. Windle is a Council
member for BAHA (British Association of Hospitality Accountants). Profile
