James Donnell – Duke Energy Corporation (duk)

JAMES M. DONNELL is President and CEO of Duke Energy Corporation's wholesale energy business, Duke Energy North America (DENA). The business includes all merchant generation activities of Duke Energy's 60/40 natural gas and power marketing and trading venture with Exxon Mobil. Prior to this, he joined PanEnergy Corp. in 1996 as Managing Director of Power Trading for PanEnergy Trading & Market Services. He was promoted to Senior Vice President, PanEnergy Power Services, Inc. In 1997, Duke Power Company of Charlotte, North Carolina, merged with PanEnergy Corp. of Houston, Texas, which forged Duke Energy. Mr. Donnell was appointed Executive Vice President of Duke Energy Power Services in August 1998. He was named to his current position in May 1999. Mr. Donnell graduated Cum Laude from Texas A& M University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was a member and officer of Tau Beta Pi and Pi Tau Sigma (engineering honors fraternities) and is currently a Board member of the Engineering Scholars Program Advisory Board. He is also a graduate of Harvard University's Advanced Management Program. Mr. Donnell serves on the Board and the Executive Committee of the Electric Power Supply Association, is a Board member of the North American Electric Reliability Council, the Escape Family Resource Center and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Houston and is a member of the PJM Interconnection, LLC Management Committee.
