ALLEN J. BEY is President, Chief Executive Officer and Director of Avid
Oil & Gas Ltd. After receiving a Bachelors of Science degree in
Mechanical Engineering from the University of British Columbia in 1982,
Mr. Bey held positions with Norcen Energy Resources Ltd. in the capacity
of Production Engineer, Construction Engineer, Field Engineer and
Evaluations Engineer. In 1988 he moved into Norcen's marketing division
as a Marketing Engineer for Crude Oil and Liquids. By 1989 he was
promoted to Senior Marketing Engineer responsible for Norcen's
Industrial Gas System (a separate business unit of the corporation). At
the same time, Mr. Bey operated two small businesses from inception to
the eventual sale of the successful enterprises. In 1991 he became
Supervisor of Intra-Alberta Gas Marketing and Transportation, and by
1993, was Manager of Crude Oil and Liquids Marketing. During his last
three years at Norcen, Mr. Bey was Asset Rationalization Leader,
supervising a staff of 30 people, and was responsible for $600 million
of acquisition, divestiture and swap transactions worldwide. One of Mr.
Bey's most significant accomplishments at Norcen was to initiate and
complete Norcen's 1995 divestiture program, which generated net sales in
excess of $300 million. After leaving Norcen in December 1995, Mr. Bey
founded Ardent Energy Inc., and Avid Oil and Gas Ltd., which were merged
