ROBERT M. TESSARI is President and Chief Executive Officer of Tesco
Corporation. He began his oilfield career in 1965 working on the
drilling rigs for Parker Drilling in Canada. Five years later, he
attended the University of Alberta, receiving a Bachelor's of Science
degree in Chemical Engineering. He spent the next eight years working
overseas as a Drilling Engineer for ARCO in Indonesia and later as AMOCO
Egypt's Drilling Superintendent in their Gulf of Suez offshore
operation. In 1982 he joined a small drilling company in Canada that
designed, manufactured and operated six land rigs. While managing this
company, Mr. Tessari formed Tesco Drilling Technology in 1986 to do
research and development on new drilling tools and processes. Tesco was
successful in developing a portable top drive system and went on to
commercializing this product for worldwide use. Tesco is also credited
in developing the world's first integrated underbalanced drilling system
and the revolutionary casing drilling process. Mr. Tessari is a member
of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the Canadian Association of
