Rex McLennan

REX MCLENNAN is Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of
Placer Dome Inc. He joined Placer Dome in September 1991 as Assistant
Treasurer following a career with Imperial Oil (affiliate of Exxon
Corporation), where he held positions in business planning and analysis,
and corporate finance. Mr. McLennan was appointed Treasurer of Placer
Dome Inc. in March 1994 and Vice President and Treasurer in February
1996. In mid-1996 Mr. McLennan was seconded to Placer Dome’s US
operations where he acted as the Mine General Manager of Golden Sunlight
Mines in Montana. He was appointed Executive Vice President and Chief
Financial Officer in August 1998 and is a member of the corporations’
Executive Council. He was educated at the University of British
Columbia, where he obtained his Bachelor of Sciences degree (Mathematics
and Economics), and at McGill University, obtaining his Master of
Business Administration (Finance and Accounting, Dean’s Honors). He is a
member of the Financial Executives Institute, the Conference Board of
Canada’s National Council of Financial Executives, the Board of
Directors of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, and is a Director of the
World Gold Council.
