John Mallard

JOHN MALLARD is the President and CEO of PortalPlayer, Inc. Before
founding PortalPlayer, he was the Chief Technology Officer at National
Semiconductor, with responsibility for the analysis and recommendation
of advanced technologies and strategic direction. Mr. Mallard formed the
team that spearheaded National’s entry into the Information Appliance
market segment while serving as Director of Worldwide Marketing for the
Personal Systems Group and head of the Advanced Architecture Group.
Prior to National, he worked at Digital Equipment Corporation as
Hardware Engineering Manager for the Mobile Products Group; with Norand
Corporation as a Product Line Manager for the Handheld Wireless
Division; and led the project team designing portables at Zenith Data
Systems. Mr. Mallard holds a BSEE from Lawrence University and an MSEE
from Johns Hopkins University.
