James S. Yu

JAMES S. YU is Vice President and Portfolio Manager for John Hancock
Funds. As a member of Hancock’s value team, Mr. Yu supports the John
Hancock Large Cap Value Fund, John Hancock Small Cap Value Fund and John
Hancock Focused Relative Value Fund. His areas of expertise include
energy, consumer goods, health care and technology. Prior to joining the
firm in 2000, Mr. Yu was a Vice President for Merrill Lynch Asset
Management and an Analyst for the Merrill Lynch Special Value Fund.
Previously, he was a Vice President of Equity Research for Gabelli &
Company, Inc., following the beverage, consumer goods and food
industries. He began his investment career in 1991. Mr. Yu earned a BS
in Economics and Finance from Rutgers College and School of Business. He
also holds an MBA from Columbia University. Mr. Yu is a Chartered
Financial Analyst and a member of the Association for Investment
Management and Research (AIMR).
