Francis P. McGuire

FRANCIS P. McGUIRE was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer
of Major Drilling Group International Inc. in August 2000. Mr. McGuire
currently serves on the Board of Directors of Industrial Alliance,
Canada’s sixth largest insurance company as well as on the Board of
Directors of Kelman Technology, a Calgary-based seismic technology firm,
and on the Board of Governors of the Atlantic Provinces Economic. From
1998 to August 2000, Mr. McGuire served as Vice President of Marketing
and Business Development of MITI Information Technology Inc. In 1999,
MITI was rated by Profit magazine as Atlantic Canada’s fastest growing
company. During the two years that Mr. McGuire was with the firm, MITI’s
revenues grew from $45 million to $130 million. From 1989 to 1998, Mr.
McGuire served as Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Tourism in
New Brunswick under Premier Frank McKenna. In this capacity, Mr. McGuire
also served as the Chairperson of the New Brunswick Industrial
Development Board. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the
Research and Productivity Council of the New Brunswick Electric Power
Corporation and the Canadian Tourism Commission. He holds a Master’s
degree from the School of Advanced International Studies, John Hopkins
University, Washington, DC, a Diploma in European Politics from the
Institute d’tudes Politiques, Paris, France and a Bachelor of Arts
degree from Dalhousie University. Mr. McGuire also completed the
Management Training Course at the University of Western Ontario’s School
of Business Administration and the Marketing Management Course at
Queen’s University.
