Jeff Harris – Alliance Unichem Plc (aun.l)

JEFF HARRIS is the Chief Executive Officer of Alliance UniChem Plc. He studied Zoology at Southampton University and then in 1970, he joined a leading London accountancy firm, which subsequently merged to become Ernst & Young. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1973 and was offered a fellowship in 1978. In 1980, he moved to Spicer & Pegler, now Deloitte & Touche, where amongst his clients he worked with the UniChem co-operative. In 1985, Mr Harris joined UniChem as Chief Accountant, and was appointed to the Board as Finance Director in 1986, serving in this capacity through UniChems transformation in 1990 from a co-operative to a Public Listed Company. He took over as Chief Executive of UniChem in 1992, having been appointed Deputy Chief Executive in 1991 in preparation for the retirement of the then CEO, Peter Dodd. In addition to his role as Chief Executive Officer of Alliance UniChem, Mr Harris is a past Chairman of the British Association of Pharmaceutical Wholesalers, the founding Chairman of IPSO (the international pharmaceutical marketing and distribution consortium), and is a Board Member of ANZAG, the German pharmaceutical wholesaling business. He is married with two children and lives in South West London, close to the head offices of Alliance UniChem. Profile

when two large groups essentially began to emerge from
