RICHARD C. GREEN, JR. was elected Chief Executive when he formed
UtiliCorp United, Inc., in 1985, and was named Chairman of the Board of
Directors in 1989. Mr. Green's active association with Missouri Public
Service began in 1976, after he began serving in a variety of 'hands-on'
positions, learning the business with line crews and through operating
and staff assignments involving plant supervision, legal, finance and
treasury functions. Elected Executive Vice President in 1982, Mr. Green
has directed the company's transformation from a Missouri-based electric
and gas utility with some 200,000 customers and revenues of $243 million
to today's highly diversified energy company with 12-month sales of
$36.3 billion, and more than 4 million energy customers in North
America, Europe and Australia. In addition to his corporate leadership,
Mr. Green has been a leader in community affairs for more than 20 years,
serving as Chairman or President of a wide range of civic organizations
including the Boy Scouts of America and the Kansas City Area Chamber of
Commerce. In all his community service endeavors, he has maintained a
focus on youth services, economic development and strengthening of city
and neighborhood infrastructure. He is a 1976 graduate of Southern
Methodist University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business,
