RICHARD C. VIE is Chairman and CEO of Unitrin, Inc. He became President
and CEO of Unitrin on March 1, 1992, and Chairman in January 1999. He
began his insurance career in St. Louis in 1962. In 1979, he joined
Commonwealth Life and Accident Insurance Company where he served as
President for four years. He joined the Unitrin group of companies in
1983 as President of United Insurance. A former Navy pilot, Mr. Vie
attended the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri, and St. Louis
