RICHARD A. HUNT is President and Chief Executive Officer and a member of
the Board of Directors of GB&T Bancshares, Inc., and is Chief Executive
Officer of its lead bank, Gainesville Bank & Trust. Additionally, he
serves on the Board of Directors of United Bank & Trust in Polk County,
Georgia; Community Trust Bank in Paulding and Cobb Counties; and
HomeTown Bank of Villa Rica in Carroll County, Georgia. Mr. Hunt has
over 35 years of commercial banking experience, beginning his career
with the First National Bank of Atlanta in 1965. In 1972, he joined
First Georgia Bank in Atlanta and served it and its successor, First
Union, for a total of 15 years. In 1987, he became an organizing
director, President and CEO of Gainesville Bank & Trust. Under his
leadership, Gainesville Bank & Trust has grown from a de novo bank to
$407 million in total assets and the lead bank in a $945 million multi-
bank holding company. He graduated from Georgia State University in
Atlanta and the Graduate School of Banking of the south at Louisiana
State University. He has served on the Board of Directors of the
Community Bankers Association of Georgia, the Northeast Georgia Chapter
of Bank Administration Institute and is currently serving as a district
officer with the Georgia Bankers Association. He is a past trustee of
the Graduate School of Banking of the South at Louisiana State
University. He has served his local community and state in numerous
leadership positions, currently including the Board of Directors of the
