JOHN H. DIFFENDAL, CFA, Senior Vice President of BB&T Capital
Markets, joined Equity Research in August 2000 as a senior
analyst in the Nashville office, where he covers the manufactured
housing sector. Prior to joining the firm, he was a Partner with
J.C. Bradford & Co. in Nashville from December 1984 until
Bradford was acquired by Paine Webber in June 2000. During his
tenure there, he served as Director of Research from January 1993
until November 1999 and served on several management and capital
committees. Previously, he worked for Wheat First Securities in
Research and Investment Strategy from May 1976 until November
1984. He received a BS in Commerce with distinction from the
McIntire School of the University of Virginia. As the owner of a
200-year-old federal home in Franklin, Tennessee, his non-
business interests include historical preservation. Profile
