MURRAY H. DASHE joined Cost Plus, Inc., in June 1997 as Vice
Chairman and was appointed President in September 1997 and
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer in February 1998. He has
more than 35 years of retailing experience covering
merchandising, marketing, advertising and store operations and
finance, with nearly 20 years experience as CEO or COO of high-
growth retail chains. He began his career with Allied Stores
Corporation, (now Federated Department Stores). He earned his MA
from St. Francis (Pennsylvania) Graduate School of Industrial
Relations in 1970 and a BA from Albright College (Pennsylvania)
in 1969. He is a decorated veteran of the Vietnam conflict. Profile

Mr. Dashe: We have opened a net of 25 new stores, opened 26 but
one was a replacement for an older store
