LAURA RAMOS, Director of Enterprise Portals Information
Management at Giga Information Group, Inc., is an Analyst
covering unstructured data management software and technologies.
Her areas of research include enterprise portal software,
information management, information retrieval and search,
automatic classification technologies, taxonomy and
classification system development, best practices for enterprise
portal design and deployment. Ms. Ramos has more than 19 years of
experience in the design, development and marketing of both
computer hardware and software. Prior to joining Giga, she was
the Director of Product Marketing at Verity and a small startup
producing automatic classification technology. At both, she
defined the product requirements for and drove the launch of
products that automatically classify text-based documents into a
taxonomy of business concepts. She has also held Director
positions at Resumix and Vitria Technology, where her interest in
automation software started when she defined and marketed
products that automatically matched resumes to job descriptions
and produced business rules to automate information flow between
back-office applications. Her previous positions included product
management of middleware products and object-oriented technology
at Sybase and natively compiled RISC operating systems at Tandem,
where she also held positions in hardware development, management
and computer-aided design. Ms. Ramos holds an MBA from the Leavey
School of Business at Santa Clara University and a BS in
Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University. Profile
