STANLEY A. RABIN is Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of
Commercial Metals Company. He attended the Bronx High School of Science.
He is a graduate of Columbia University, where he earned a Bachelor of
Arts Degree and a Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgical
Engineering. He also earned a Master of Business Administration Degree
at the University of Santa Clara in Santa Clara, California. In addition
to an engineering background, his professional experience includes major
assignments with Union Carbide and General Electric in materials
engineering, marketing, product development, and project management
prior to joining Commercial Metals Company in 1970. In 1961 he served in
the U.S. Army active reserve program. During his 31-year career with
Commercial Metals, he has served in a number of executive capacities,
ranging from Assistant Vice President of nonferrous metal marketing to
Vice President in charge of domestic and international trading of both
prime and secondary ferrous products. In September 1978, he was elected
President of Commercial Metals and was appointed to the Executive
Committee. In May 1979, he received the additional title of Chief
Executive Officer and was named to the Board of Directors. Subsequently,
Commercial Metals' net worth has grown from $64 million to over $425
million, fueled by major growth in its manufacturing business segment.
On March 15, 1999, Mr. Rabin was also elected Chairman of the Board. He
served on the Board of Directors of Bank of America Texas, NA, from 1991
