Mr. Campbell: We have really had some dramatic changes in our areas of operations over the last several years. If you look back at Newfield, we were founded in 1989 as solely a Gulf of Mexico company. In the mid-1990s, we moved into the onshore regions of the Gulf Coast. In 2000, we moved to the mid-continent and just recently announced our intent to acquire EEX Corporation, which gives us a much broader footprint onshore Gulf Coast and also an entry into deepwater Gulf of Mexico. So we've had a lot of changes in the last year and even the last five years.
TWST: What's the rationale behind the changes?
Mr. Campbell: We are a growing company. If you look at the basins where
we are active, we are active in the basins that produce about 70% of the
gas that we burn each and every day in the US. So we are in the right
geologic basins to continue to grow. I would also tell you in the same
breath that we are still a very focused company. We are focused on the
Gulf Coast region, the mid-continent and with a couple of select things
internationally, but we are still a very focused company.
