Electronic Data Systems Corp. (NYSE:EDS);

Leading analyst and top management from eight sector firms examines the technology sector in this special 40-page IT Consulting issue from The Wall Street Transcript, available at (212/952-7433) or http://www.twst.com/info/info453.htm.

“There is still a lot of demand for application-type maintenance work,” reports an industry pro. “EDS, which provides that as an outsourcing service, has been doing pretty well. There is a huge installed base of mainframe computer systems that still needs to be looked after and is an outsourcing opportunity. Long term, it’s still a solid growth opportunity for EDS. Looking forward, EDS should continue to do well. I don’t anticipate seeing any negative surprises from EDS.”

“Among the larger companies, the management team at EDS has done an outstanding job of restructuring the company and moving it forward,” another analyst says. “They are now seeing really record-level performance. Nonetheless, EDS had to go through not only a structural realignment, but had to realign their culture, which is tough to do. EDS has been able to pull that off and is positioned well. Richard Brown, CEO, did a couple of things to implement this at EDS. From a softer perspective, Brown re-energized EDS with less bureaucracy and more customer-facing, more market-facing. He gave investors the tools and the information systems. Other steps Brown took were weeding out the underperformers and those who were not contributing to the growth of EDS."

This special issue includes:
