PHARMACIA CORPORATION (NYSE:PHA);

“I think that Fred Hassan at Pharmacia has done a really good job,” notes a premier biotech analyst. The Pharmacia of today is a merger of Pharmacia & Upjohn and Monsanto. One of the reasons I like Hassan is that when the Pharmacia Monsanto, etc. machinations were going on, Pharmacia’s stock took a hit. Hassan didn’t panic. He came out and told the Street to get over it. Hassan saw the drop in Pharmacia’s stock as nothing more than a day’s move in the market. Hassan has basically told the Street, Look, you do what you have to do, we’ll do what we have do. We think we’re going to make Pharmacia a better company because of it. I admire Hassan’s attitude and think that Pharmacia is a role model for other biotech firms.”
