James N. Nelson III, CFA, is an Associate Portfolio Manager at Herndon Capital Management on the Large Cap Growth Strategy. Mr. Nelson is also responsible for covering the consumer staples sectors. Prior to joining Herndon Capital Management, Mr. Nelson was a Partner at McHugh Associates Inc. While at McHugh Associates Inc., from 1999 through 2009, he comanaged an approximate $1.5 billion large-cap equity strategy and acted as a Senior Equity Analyst analyzing stocks in the consumer, financial, health care and IT sectors. In addition to his comanagement and research responsibilities during that time, he acted as the lead Portfolio Manager for high net worth and institutional clients with combined assets over $100 million. Prior to that, Mr. Nelson held analytical positions at Cooke & Bieler, the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation and Towers Perrin. Mr. Nelson earned an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Arts in economics from The College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania.
